'AI will improve...': Elon Musk reacts to Satya Nadella's video on AI-powered farming in Maharashtra

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk recently reshared a video posted by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on the social media platform X in which Nadella called it 'a fantastic example of AI's impact on agriculture.'

Musk further pointed out that AI can potentially improve every aspect of life.

What did Satya Nadella share in his post on X?

In the video, Nadella highlighted the transformative role of AI in agriculture, showcasing how it helped a small farmer from Battis Shirala, Maharashtra, increase crop yields, reduce chemical usage, and optimise water consumption. He referred to the AI-powered advancements as "phenomenal."

“The one example that I wanted to highlight was one of the small farmers who was part of the Baramati Co-op, where you can take this powerful technology but make it have an impact, where a small landowner is able to improve the yield of their land. And the numbers they shared in terms of reduction in chemicals, improvement in water usage and, ultimately, yield was phenomenal," he explained in his video shared on X.

Nadella also noted the use of geospatial data from drones and satellites, which can aid farmers in their native language.

Musk responds to Nadella’s quantum computing breakthrough

Earlier, Musk also responded to Nadella’s post about a breakthrough in quantum computing. Nadella had shared an update on a major advancement, stating, "Most of us grew up learning about three main types of matter: solid, liquid, and gas. Today, that changes."

He continued, explaining how Microsoft had created a new state of matter, enabled by a class of materials called topoconductors, leading to a significant leap in computing. This technology powers Majorana 1, the first quantum processing unit based on a topological core, with the potential to revolutionize computing.

Nadella added, "The qubits created with topoconductors are faster, more reliable, and smaller. They are 1/100th of a millimeter, meaning we now have a clear path to a million-qubit processor.Imagine a chip that can fit in the palm of your hand yet is capable of solving problems that even all the computers on Earth today combined could not!."

Musk, in his response, acknowledged the milestone by commenting, "More and more breakthroughs with quantum computing."
